POUTINE PALOOZA!!!

Aug 25, 6:00pm

LanaLou's

POUTINE PALOOZA!!! An open mic and jam night extravaganza! All instruments and equipment provided. $5 POUTINE (miso gravy option also) and cheap cans of beer all night! Okay everyone. Here are the rules and regulations for Poutine Palooza Volume 1! We have six hours to suck back poutine and beers and make noise. Let's make the most of it. First of all keep in mind we provide the entire backline to these events. Stage will come stocked with a full drum kit, 1 bass amp and two guitar amps. We also have a bucket of drumsticks, a bass guitar and two guitars. Please use the provided guitars to cut down on set change times and "level the playing field" for all players when things get competitive. Round 1: "Open Micromaphone" Your lovely MCs Diamond Dick and Larry Lich will be there to open up the stage right at 6. You can sign up to play by putting your name, the group's name if applicable, and the number of members on a piece of paper. Names can be submitted from 530 on. These bands will play on stage from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock. Each group gets a maximum of three songs or fifteen minutes - however that can vary depending on the number of attendees. If we get fewer people out, groups will get longer. If we get more out, groups will get fewer. Sign-ups for this will continue throughout the evening up until 830. Round 2: "Band in a Hat" Welcome to "Band in a Hat "! Several hats will be put out on the table - each labeled with a different instrument or skill. There will be one labeled drums, one labeled bass, one labeled guitar, one labeled vocals, and one labeled other. Place your name and the appropriate skill in the hat that corresponds to that skill. you can put your name in multiple hats if you wish but please remember that you should have at least a rudimentary amount of skill in that area. I like to THINK that I can sing - after a few beers I REALLY think I can - but the sad reality is that I really can't. The "other" hat is for those that have brought something along with them like a harmonica, sax etc and want to play with the rest of us. This will go for two hours with "Hat Bands" getting a maximum of 2 songs or ten minutes. Round 3: "Your Friends Suck" During this round we call out an instrument - the room votes on who plays the instrument. Based on the level of audience participation in terms of volume, we narrow potential candidates down and vote on them and build three groups. Members decide on a name - then each group will have a maximum play time of 10 minutes. Once the last group is finished the audience votes on which was their favorite. The winning group gets a voucher for a free poutine and beer at the next Poutine Palooza for each member! 6pm-Midnight Thursday August 25th and every last Thursday of each month. FREE TO ENTER PLUS ALL AGES Brought to you by, Suna Studios & Lana Lou's

FAÇADE FESTIVAL 2016 is the 2nd year of the annual festival. The event aims to provide the City of Vancouver with a dynamic and interactive approach to place-making and visual art experience in the public realm.
