The food can be roughly described as modern and classic favourites, west coast comfort food. The staff sources the best local and seasonal ingredients to create innovative dishes and delicious daily specials. Chef Scott Minns likes to showcase interesting local product like the Sezmu beef tenderloin which is Okanagan wine fed angus beef that has been aged 30 to 40 days.
The Locus is an excellent place to discover new food and drinks. Every day there are different “daily features”. For lunch you will see two new soups, a different appetizer plate, egg scrambler, french toast variation, a new daily soup and sandwich combo and lunch special. Dinner most days has a new featured pizza, and two mains from the chef’s inspiration for the day usually. It is almost unknown for a Vancouver restaurant to offer so many unique daily items.
You will also be glad to know the Locus tries to be good environmental citizen by being one of the few restaurants in Vancouver to recycle and compost their garbage.
The drink list has recently been revamped to include more BC wines and single diners will be ecstatic to know the single glass prices match the equivalent bottle portion prices. No more paying extra just because you want a single glass.
If you enjoy a late night drink and snack, you will be glad to know the Locus is open till 2:00am most nights and the kitchen is open till 1:00am, weekends till midnight. All wine is 15% off on Thursdays. Keep an eye on their Twitter, Facebook and blog posts for weekly specials.
