Black Boys Code Mission & History
Black Boys Code’s mission is to inspire and help Black youth passionately pursue their interest in Science Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) through coding and science programs so they can be leaders in engineering a better tomorrow.
Regular coding courses, hackathons and summer camps help inspire Black kids and pique their interest in the fast moving technology sector.
Black Boys Code raises awareness and addresses underrepresentation in technology and entrepreneurship and the lack of diversity in the tech industry.
Founded in 2015 by CEO Bryan Johnson to get black youth interested in the science and technology sectors, Black Boys Code has grown to 11 chapters in Canada and is making headway into the US with it’s first chapter in Chicago. An aggressive growth plan is in place to expand to more chapters in North America.
Black Boys Code’s vision is for Black youth to gain the tech skills and talents to realize their full potential, preparing them for success as tomorrow’s technology leaders and innovators.
